Our dentist would be happy to provide professional and customized advice on maintaining your dental hygiene in Phoenix and Sun City, Arizona. You are welcome to call our office at (602) 788-4040 to schedule an appointment.

Our dentist recommends that you follow these basic steps to help your smile stay in optimal health:
  • Floss at least once every day. The most important time to floss is just before you go to sleep at night.
  • Eat a balanced diet. Limiting your intake of very sugary and acidic foods can help to prevent tooth decay.
  • Brush your teeth after each meal or at least twice a day. We encourage you to use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a toothpaste that includes fluoride.

Dental Cleaning & Exams

Dental cleanings and exams are two of the most basic yet important preventive treatments we provide at our office. Each time you visit our dental practice for a checkup, we will provide a professional teeth cleaning and dental exam to help your smile stay healthy.

Routine dental checkups focus on maintaining your smile’s optimal health and addressing any developing concerns. We encourage you to visit Arizona Dental on a regular basis for dental exams and teeth cleanings in Phoenix and Sun City, Arizona. If you are showing signs of gum disease, we may perform a medicated cleaning called scaling and root planing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. • Clean your teeth by removing any plaque or tartar (also called dental calculus), which can lead to tooth decay and periodontal disease.

Cavity Prevention

Granted most anyone will agree, maintaining one’s cavity prevention is an absolute must for a variety of reasons. Not only does upholding an emphasis on consistent & effective oral/dental hygiene promote a happy & confident smile but proper cavity prevention (or lack thereof) also has a tremendous impact on the smiler’s overall health as well. For instance, without proper oral care to uphold ideal cavity prevention, it’s all but inevitable that the teeth, tongue, gum line, and the mouth in general will experience severely detrimental effects. Including tooth plaque, decay & eventual loss, periodontal/gum disease(s) such as gingivitis or periodontitis, halitosis (bad breath), cavities, and in serious cases, the always-concerning onset of oral cancer(s).

There are several proven methods of cavity prevention, including:
  • Consistent Brushing (3x per day)
  • Daily Flossing (1-2x per day)
  • Rinse Mouth Often (6+ per day)
  • Reduce Sugary Foods & Beverages
  • Limit Acidic Foods & Beverages
  • Avoid Sipping (water excluded)
  • Schedule Routine Dental Visits
  • Adhere To Prescribed Dental Treatments

Learn More About Cavity Prevention

We encourage all patients to maintain proper oral care, hygiene, and general upkeep practices to ensure a noteworthy smile for decades to come! However, we understand that no two smiles are the same and by extension; no two oral care or treatment plans are likely to be identical as well. This is why we often cater specified dental hygiene regiments to each patient individually; thus bettering the effectiveness of cavity prevention.

Effective Cavity Prevention

While each set of teeth, gum lines, tongue, mouth, and overall smile can vary drastically from one patient to the next, it’s largely inarguable that each and every person can and will benefit from sustained cavity prevention and maintaining an active routine of oral care habits. These routine methods of cavity prevention and proactive oral care can include brushing, flossing, oral rinsing/gargling, general dental cleanliness, and periodic check-up visits to a licensed dentist.
